π±π» Budding Gardeners: P1/2 Class Plant Sunflower Seeds! π±π»
This week, the Primary 1/2 class at got their hands dirty as they planted sunflower seeds in their school gardener, Mrs Matthews. The children were excited to learn about how plants grow and take responsibility for looking after their own little seedlings.
The carefully placed the seeds gently into pots of soil, making sure to give them plenty of water and a warm spot to grow inside on the window sill until the weather gets warmed to put them outside.
βWe need to be patient and take care of them.β
βI canβt wait to see how tall mine will grow!β
The planting project is part of their Forest School sessions, helping the children understand what flowers need to thrive. Over the next few weeks, they will be watering their sunflowers, keeping a diary of changes, and measuring their progress.
As the weeks go on, the children will also be learning about the life cycle of a sunflower, exploring pollination, and even creating artwork inspired by their flowers. Keep an eye on the school website βsoon, it might be bursting with bright yellow blooms! π»
