Busy Days in Primary 6/7
What a busy 5 weeks we have had already in P6/7!
We were the first class to visit Kilkeel library. We learned all about the Dewey decimal system, had a look at the resources available for library members and Aine read us a few stories. We really enjoyed our visit.
In Literacy, we studied the poem Blackberries by Seamus Heaney. Some children collected berries and we used our senses to brainstorm words to use in our own writing. We learned about cinquain poems and Mrs Grue was very impressed with our work.
We were very fortunate to have 2 visits from Grainne and Michael from the NSPCC. We had fun learning about children's rights and we used what we had learned to create some very informative posters.
In ICT, we used the iPads to research the origin and meaning of some words we had come across in Literacy. We found some very interesting facts about many of the words we use everyday.
We've had great fun so far and are excited for what the rest of the term will bring!
