Celebrating our Faith
During each week the school community come together very often to pray. The children pray with great happiness and hope daily. The children begin and end their day in school with a prayer, they say a prayer before and after their lunch and at 12 noon some of the older children say the Angelus. There is a sacred space in every class and in 2 key locations in the school. There is a grotto to Our Lady in the school garden. There are many pictures, statues, crucifixes and icons in all parts of the school. We work together as a school community for the Sacraments: First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation
P4 - 7 prepare the readings, bidding prayers, offertory procession and communion reflection together with music for a weekly class Mass on a Wednesday in the Oratory. We come together as a school community for assembly on a Friday morning.
Our faith is very important and precious to us. We try each day to live the life that Jesus has taught us.
During Catholic Schools Week we shared some of these celebrations with the children's families, friends and parish community.
- P6/7 celebrated the weekly class Mass in the Oratory. The theme of their Mass was St Brigid. The children's preparation for this Mass was commented on by Fr Dillon. Everyone agreed that the children's prayerfulness and happiness was a delight to experience.
- P2 shared their prayers, actions and songs also with family, friends and especially grandparents. Their assembly was also in honour of St Brigid.
- Refreshments were served in the Infant Hall by the Friends of St Colman's for everyone after Mass.
We celebrate our faith every day with great pride and joy. We are truly blessed with the children and staff in our school who treasure their faith and help each other.
