Our ECO team took part today in a tree and shrub planting project at Warrenpoint Port. This was part of a rejuvenation scheme to enhance a grass area at an entrance to the port. The team, Caiden (chairperson), Anthony, James, Olivia, Aaron, Mya and Tom helped prepare the ground and select their tree. Unfortunately Ciaran and Rory from P7 were unable to go with us because they had a transition workshop in the morning and hillwalking in the afternoon!
Some of the employees from the port gave the children a hand. The tree will have a plaque beside it with our name and crest on it to let everyone know that we planted this tree. On our journeys to Newry we will be able to keep an eye on how the trees are growing. The children were given sweets and had lots of photographs taken. Our thanks to Sharon and everyone at Warrenpoint Port for inviting our school to this event.
On our way back to school we stopped off at the Genoa for an ice cream. A well deserved treat for a job well done!
