February in P2
The boys and girls have been very busy over the last month learning lots of new things.
In Literacy we have been looking at the story of ‘Hansel and Gretel’ and ‘The Princess and the pea’. We spent time in each of these stories looking at the characters and the settings. We had great fun sequencing using pictures, making hanging mobiles and writing sentences, remembering our sentence rules of capital letters at the beginning of a sentence and a full stop at the end.
In maths we have been counting backwards and forwards to 20. We love doing this to music and actions. We have learnt about ordinal numbers, odd and even and sequencing patterns.
On Pancake Tuesday we had great fun making pancakes but it was even better when we got to put our toppings on. Chocolate and strawberries were the most popular. We even had seconds the pancakes were that good.
We have been practising our Irish conversation and we are getting better and better all the time.
During play we have had lots of fun in the construction, homecorner, arts and craft, outside, sand and water. It’s the best time of the day.
