Floating ghosts STEM challenge in P4 👻
Today P4 investigated the effects of static electricity⚡️
Our Aim: Make a tissue ghost dance
Explaining the science:
⚡️This experiment demonstrates static electricity.
⚡️When you rub the balloon on your hair, jumper, carpet tiny particles with negative charge build up on the surface
of the balloon.
⚡️These have the power to pull very light objects with a positive charge towards them. This causes the tissue ghost to move towards the balloon and “dance.”
What did we discover:
🧪Rubbing the balloon on our hair created the most static electricity
🧪Little static energy was created if gel was in hair
🧪The smaller the ghost the less static electricity was needed to make the ghost dance
🧪Too much static electricity made the tissue paper stick to the ballon
