P3 have been busy learning about fractions this week, particularly 1/2s, 1/4s and 1/3s.
Today we decided to take our learning to the forest to make fractions of shapes and natural items all around us.
🍂 Working in pairs, the boys and girls were given a fraction of a shape to show. e.g. 1/2 of a circle, 2/4 of a rectangle.
🍂We used chalk and collected natural resources to create shapes and show the fraction required.
🍂We Looked at the properties of the natural materials to decide what would be best to make a square, rectangle, circle etc
Not only were we working on fractions but we worked in pairs, manipulated natural materials and reasoned and discussed, as a group, our fraction creations ⭐️ Busy bees 🐝
