Helping Hedgehogs Hibernate π¦
P3 have been learning all about Hedgehogs π¦
π¦ We have been enjoying reading the “Hodgeheg” by Roald Dahl and learning about how important it is to stay safe and been seen if you are out in the cold, dark winter nights.
π¦In world Around us we have explored why, where and when hedgehogs Hibernate. We discovered that the weather in winter is very cold for hedgehogs and there is less food available for them in the frosty, wintry weather.
π¦ In forest schools, we built some man made nests to help hedgehogs hibernate this winter βοΈ
In pairs, the boys and girls began collecting natural material and looked for a suitable place to build a hedgehog nest. They looked for space in the bushes, dug down into the ground and even found space between tree roots to keep the hedgehogs safe from predators.
There are going to be lots of happy hedgehogs in St. Colman’s this winter βοΈ
