Local Firefighter Visits P5
Today Jeff McGuffin, a local firefighter visited Primary 5 to talk to them about the hazards of fire and how to keep safe around fires. Jeff talked about many things that are fire hazards eg. candles, worn flexes, matches and lighters, chip pans and so on. He also told them what to do if there is a house fire. He stressed the importance of having a working smoke detector and that you should check each week that it is working. Jeff also discussed with the children how dangerous it is to make prank calls to the fire brigade as it endangers life and wastes precious time. He also talked about how dangerous it is to throw things at passing fire-engines. Jeff also discussed with P5 the other jobs firefighters do and how important they are in our community. He finished off his visit by giving everyone a Fire Safety Activity Pack. A big thank you to Jeff for his very informative talk!
