Money, Money, Money...
Last week was 'Money Week'. The boys and girls took part in various activities to learn about money in a fun and motivating way. Each child brought in any change they had at home for a 'money mile' on Friday. Our class went head to head with Mrs White's class to see who could create the longest money mile. The boys and girls learned about what each coin looks like as well as sorting and counting coins. Our class won the money mile and got treated to an ice-cream! Thank you to all the parents who supported us by donating very generously.
The children created money pictures using 1ps, 2ps and 5ps. Each child was so creative and they were able to select the correct coin for size and colour to make very effective pictures.
Leo Colgan, a Bank Official from Danske Bank, visited our class on Friday. He spoke to the children about the importance of saving money and answered any questions the children had about money and working in the bank. He showed them various coins from past and present as well as doing a money colouring competition in the class. Each child received a pencil from the bank and they really enjoyed the day.
Money week was a huge success!
