P1 Spread Their Symmetrical Wings!
Primary 1 have been busy exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle—a class favourite that led us into exciting learning about symmetry and the life cycle of a butterfly!
We used mirrors to find lines of symmetry and had fun spotting symmetrical shapes. Our favourite part was painting butterflies—folding the paper to see both wings match like magic!
We played symmetry games on the iPads and whiteboard, becoming real symmetry experts!
We also learned about the butterfly’s life cycle and made our own using pasta:
-
Rice for the eggs
-
Fusilli for the caterpillar
-
Conchiglie (shell pasta) for the cocoon
-
Farfalle (bow-tie pasta) for the butterfly
To finish off, we acted out the butterfly life cycle in a fun and active PE lesson! What a fantastic week of learning and creativity!
