Primary 5 visit Kilkeel Harbour
Today P5 visited Kilkeel Harbour as part of our Happy Harbours Project. We were greeted by Rosemary, Michael and Danielle from Happy Harbours who gave us all a hi-viz vest to wear before we set off on our tour.
We looked at the boats, talked to John who was loading boxes of crabs and lobsters onto his forklift. We went to the ice plant and saw the ice coming down the chute.
Next we went to the Lifeboat station where three crew members gave us a guided tour. We sat in the lifeboat and got trying on their helmets.
Afterwards we got to see, touch and hold sea creatures in a touch tank.
Finally we went to the Fisherman's Mission where we got a snack and asked the Harbour Master questions.
We had a very enjoyable visit.
