4th Oct 2019
We have been celebrating a special time in school, the Season of Creation. It began on 1st September and finished today, 4th October, the feast day of St Francis of Assisi. Pope Francis had set aside this special time for us to look at ways we can make our world a better place for everyone. And to enjoy our beautiful world!
During the Season of Creation the children in school were involved in the following activities and events:
- a special assembly to launch the Season of Creation which was organised by the ECO council and Garden Gang
- the Garden Gang planted Spring bulbs and wildflower seeds
- all classes created a creation picture or wrote a story or poem on creation
- P6/7 celebrated a class Mass in the Oratory on the theme of Season of Creation
- the ECO council had their first meeting
- a whole school Mass to celebrate the opening of the new school year was held on 1st October, feast of the Little Flower. P7 children helped to organise this Mass. Fr Dillon blessed red rose petals and the P7 children gave them to family and friends
- our school Sacred Space was completed today with samples of work from all classes used to create a prayerful space where the children and staff can stop beside to pray
