This week, our P1/2 class embarked on an exciting adventure to explore the wonders of spring at Forest School.
We have been looking at Vivaldi's Four Seasons in One Day and discussing what happens in Spring.
The children were thrilled to step into our beautiful quadrangle, where nature was bursting with life.
We listened to the melodious calls of various birds. The children were fascinated by the different sounds and tried to mimic them, creating a symphony of their own. We learned about the birds that make these calls and discussed why they sing, discovering that birds use their songs to communicate and attract friends.
We talked about how we notice lots more birds in the sky during Spring. One of the highlights of our adventure was making nests. Using twigs, leaves, and other natural materials, the children worked together to create cozy nests, just like the birds do. It was wonderful to see their creativity and teamwork in action. They carefully placed each piece, ensuring their nests were sturdy and comfortable.
The children also had the opportunity to observe the changes as spring arrives. We spotted blooming flowers, budding trees, and even a few insects buzzing around. We saved a bee who had become trapped in our classroom overnight. We gave it some sugary water.
Our Forest School adventure was not only educational but also a lot of fun. The children left with smiles on their faces and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of spring.
