We're back together again!
This morning all the children and staff gathered together for a special Assembly to celebrate being back to school. The theme of this Assembly was simply: we're back together again!
During the past few days some children were invited to write a letter to God which included their prayers and thoughts for this Assembly. Their letters were full of hopes and dreams for this new school year. They also were full of thanks and love for all the things that our children have in school. They prayed for special people in their lives both at home and at school. The letters remembered in a special way the children who are not as lucky as our children are.
Aura and Marek are the oldest girl and boy in P7. Their letters told of their happy memories at school and they prayed for our new children in P1.
Aaron has just joined St Colman's this year with his brother Ryan in P2. He wrote a long letter of introduction. His letter left us in no doubt that he is very happy in our school and parish community. He prayed for all new boys and girls throughout the school and for new staff.
James wrote a letter which described clearly the reasons why he loves school. His letter told of all the exciting and interesting things he has done in school. James prayed that all the children would do their best in school and to promise to make sure that this year was a good one!
Ellie's letter reminded the children how lucky they are and how many children do not have a school to go to. She told the children that Fr Nicky had sent an email to us with lots of photos which showed the school that is being built in Kenya where he works. He told us that the money we had donated to him was being used to help build this school. Ellie prayed for Fr Nicky, who is a past pupil of our school.
Gabrielle from P4 wrote in her letter how we need to be a good friend every day. Nathan from P3 wrote a letter of thanks for his family and Erin from P2 wrote a letter to thank God for the teachers in St Colman's and all the other people who help her every day.
Two children from P1, Lauren and Jenson, thanked God for their lunch box and school bag.
Our school choir lead the singing of a favourite song 'Together Again'.
